
Beginning my career as a Real Estate Agent 15 years ago was a dream come true. After working for many years in the world of publishing and advertising, I finally decided to make the move to real estate and have loved it ever since. I had always been an open house junkie and would drive people crazy asking them to wait in the car and let me run through any open house I happened to come upon . Having owned and managed many homes and income properties over the years, real estate had always been my passion. That experience has given me a real world understanding of the value of real estate in peoples’ lives. It is by far the best way to grow one’s wealth and prosperity whether in owning your own family home or in providing rental housing to others. Being able to give my clients first hand experience to guide them in the purchase and sale of their own properties has provided a continuous stream of referrals which is all I rely upon for my business.
As of 2022 we witnessed one of the most dramatic market shifts in recent history. Prices soared to ridiculous levels in early 2022 and have now begun falling to 2021 levels and lower. It is uncertain when the bottom will be reached or if it is already here. Rising interest rates have pushed many home buyers out of the market even as prices receded. This is forcing people to look in other regions of the country to pursue their dreams. The possibility of future rate hikes will only worsen conditions. It is in times like this that buyers and sellers need the best guidance possible in their decisions to buy or sell. It is NOT the time for realtors to advocate on any decisions for their clients unless it is based upon their client’s absolute BEST INTERESTS . Understanding completely the positions of my clients has forced me at times to advise sellers to stay in their homes and buyers NOT to buy right now. This is not great for my pocket book but in good conscience it is the only way I can sleep at night. The number of homes not closing in recent months because buyers have been unable to sell their homes OR have had to sell at such reduced prices as to nullify their ability to close has brought distress to many families. Fortunately none of these folks were my clients.
In the best of times, buying or selling one’s home is often a stressful situation and my goal is always to provide my clients as smooth and seamless a transition as possible.
