“The Adopt-A-Family Program matches donors with families in need in order to make Christmas shine a little brighter.” – ChildrensFoundation.org
This year there are over 900 families who are registered through the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. Last year Royal City Realty collected pajamas and books to contribute to the Adopt-A-Family Program. This year, we are happy to participate again to make wishes come true for the families in our area who are in need.
This year, instead of pajamas, we are collecting:
Winter wear for all ages
Waterproof mittens and gloves to keep hands warm and dry
Scarves for bundling up on cold Winter days
Hats to keep Jack Frost away from little ears
Warm socks to keep everyone’s toes toasty
Activity books to entertain busy minds
Box sets so avid readers can dive into a new world
Robert Munsch, because everyone loves his stories
Richard Scary stories so families can enjoy the animals of Busytown
I Spy books which are both fun and beautiful
Where’s Waldo books, because he’s always getting lost and needs to be found
Colouring books for the artists out there
Gift cards for Chapters so readers can explore all different genres
The next time you’re out shopping, remember to pick up an item or two for the drive. Our donation deadline is December 5.
2,053 children and youth received personalized gifts based on their needs and wishes, thanks to 907 donor groups.
934 families were referred to the program by 145 social workers.
52% of the families were referred by Family & Children’s Services, the Community Resource Centre in Fergus, or the Canadian Mental Health Association.(source: Children’s Foundation)
